Resetting the device.
There are different types and methods in resetting your device. The reset that I'm referring here, is resetting the device back its factory settings (be carefull in resetting your device, it may delete your data). Your data such as calendar events, contacts, task, memos, third party applications and emails that are setup on your device, are backup everyday to your Hp webos account/Palm profile, depends if you have selected the default account which is the Hp webos account/ Palm profile account as your backup. It is recommended to perform first a manuall backup by going to the backup icon on your device and by tapping on backup now. After performing this reset you will have to sign back into your Hp webos account/Palm profile account(if your planning to restore your previous information) or create a new profile which is need for you to get into your webos device. Make sure that you remember your email address associated with your Hp webos/ Palm profile account. You can log into this website - Hp user console
Type 1
Erase apps and Data
This is the common type of resset to restore the device's preferences back to its factory settings. Once you sign back into your original profile, it will restore your calendar events, contacts, task, memos, third party applications and emails or create a new profile if you want to start from scratch
- Open device information from the menu/launcher
- Select reset options
- Select erase apps and confirm
It would take time for the device to finish resetting.
Type2
Full erase
This full erase that will wipe out everything including data that are backup to the device's internet memory, such as pictures, documents, music, videos, ringtones and wallpapers. You can backup those information by transferring the data to your computer (refer to your manual on how to transfer these types of data to the computer).
- Open device information from the menu/launcher

- Select full erase and confirm full erase
It would more take time for the device to finish resetting.

Set device to Recovery mode
recovery mode is needed in order for the webos doctor to recognize the device's drive partition where the system file is installed.
- How to set recovery mode for Hp Touch pad
- Completely turn your touchpad off.
- Disconnect any cable from the touch pad(if you're charging it)
- Press and hold down the power and volume up button 'till the usb symbol come up on the screen.
- Release the buttons.
- How to set recovery mode for Smart Phones
- Completely turn your Phone off.
- Disconnect any cable from the Phone(if you're charging it)
- Make sure that the Ac charger is plug to the wall outlet, but don't it to the phone yet.
- Take the battery out(do not release), press and hold the volume up button.
- Put the battery back in (continue to hold the volume up)
- Plug the Ac charger to the phone (continue to hold the volume up).
- Release the volume button when the usb symbol come up on the screen

Run the webos doctor
Run and install the webos doctor on your computer, do not connect the device yet to the computer 'till the webos doctor will tell you to do so. When ask to connect the device to the computer, just disconnect the other end of the cable which is connected to the Ac charge and plug the cable to your computer using the usb port. Make sure that its the cable is firmly connected.
Never interrupt the process while its working on it, you can place the device down on a secure area to prevent it disconnecting from your computer.
The webos doctor will take a while, The webos doctor will just inform you when its done and your phone will reboot, it will take time for it to finish rebooting.

Sign in to the profile or create a new profile account
If you want to restore your data, you will have to sign back into the account using the email address and password if you forgot your password go to user console to recover your password.
If you would like to start from scratch, you can sign up for a new account.
